Former Head of Battery Development at Audi joins Morrow Batteries

Morrow Batteries appoints Juergen Lind as Executive Vice President (EVP) of Industrialization and Business Development. He comes from Audi AG, where he has worked as Head of Battery Development and been actively involved in developing the batteries for the Audi e-tron.

Juergen will lead the build-up of Morrow's Industrialization Center (MIC), and drive customer centric battery cell developments.

Juergen will assume his position as EVP Industrialisation and Business Development at August 1st 2021 and will relocate to the Arendal-region.

The hiring of Juergen Lind follows a number of recruitments during the last months of key executives with vast battery experience and industry track record:


· CTO: Dr. Rahul Fotedar joined from Hilti Corporation

· EVP Manufacturing: Dr. Andreas Maier, former VP at Samsung SDI, will relocate to Arendal from Seoul

· EVP Sales: Matthias Gänsslen comes from Samsung SDI and will also lead Morrow Batteries GmbH from Hannover

· Head of R&D: Jon Fold von Bülow joined from Haldor Topsoe and will relocate to the Arendal-region from Copenhagen


Morrow Batteries will start the construction of its first facilities, the Cell Pilot Factory (>500MWh) and the Battery Innovation Centre, later this year. The facilities are a part of Morrow Industrialization Centre, and will allow Morrow to develop and qualify the world’s most sustainable battery cells in addition to industrializing next generation battery technology.


Strong background from Audi Juergen has 20 years of Research and Development experience within different industry segments – from Automotive (Electrification), Semiconductors and Wireless. Juergen has been taking leading roles within the Battery development at Audi AG, where he was responsible for the establishment of the Audi China Battery Competence Center and was actively involved in developing the batteries for the Audi e-tron.

Before joining Audi, Juergen had leading positions with an international footprint in Research and Development and Project and Business Development with Ericsson and NXP Semiconductors.


Battery coast – An industrial advantage In southern Norway, Morrow is establishing the Battery Coast. An entire eco-system built around the battery value chain.

“The Battery coast is the perfect place for large-scale battery cell manufacturing with surplus of low-cost renewable energy and direct access to European markets and key customers in different segments. Carbon neutral battery cell development and manufacturing will the key differentiator for customers to integrate in their sustainability strategy. With the Morrow Industrialization Center in place we will have all the means to deliver on our commitment”, says Juergen Lind.
